Meara | State College, PA Portrait Photographer

Meara and I met the very first Friday of Summer session. We became fast friends, and have been having a blast ever since. We set out on this shoot, just for fun. Aren’t those the best kinds of shoots? We relaxed and chatted, enjoying each other’s company as we explored the Penn State Arboretum and Downtown State College. I am SO EXCITED about these photos. Not only was I able to shoot another session in a little bit of snow (did I ever mention that I LOVE shooting in the snow?), but Meara is absolutely stunning, and her genuine personality truly shows through these photos. Enjoy some of my favorites!

Keeping Tradition | Personal

Happy Groundhogs Day, y’all! It looks like its going to be an early spring, and THANK GOD! This southern gal is sick of this cold!

Every year that I can remember, I have looked forward to Groundhogs day because I would come home from school, and fresh groundhog cupcakes would be waiting for me in the kitchen. Yes, I am serious. These were last year’s. {Sorry about the iPhone photos!}

Holiday’s have always been big in my family, even the tiny in between ones. This being my first year away from home, its been a bit of an adjustment getting used to carrying on our traditions on my own!

Just the other day I was telling my roommate about how disappointed I was that there weren’t going to be any groundhog cupcakes this year. Silly, I know, but there’s more of a sentimental reason behind it than anything. Just after I finished saying that, I got an email notification that I had a package waiting for me…and what did I find, but a box from my mom filled with gluten free cupcakes and all the necessary candy to make tiny groundhogs.

photoThis was just what I needed after such a draining week. Yes, I know that sounds silly. But more importantly, it was amazing to know that my mom is always thinking of me, and can practically read my mind from 1,000 miles away. She is seriously the most amazing women in my life, and I hope that I can someday have this kind of impact on others. Her thoughtful gestures like this one are always the greatest reminder of how much I love and miss her each and every day. It has been such an adjustment getting used to not hanging out with her and celebrating all of the quirky in between holidays, but it has definitely made our relationship stronger in a different kind of way! Change is good, but it is so great to be able to keep certain traditions. So what was the first thing I did when I woke up this morning? Make a groundhog cupcake and text her a picture, of course.

Webster’s Bookstore Café | State College, PA Photographer

ImageUmmm talk about YUMMY! I had the best time doing something a bit more unique from my usual shooting style! Webster’s Bookstore Café here in Downtown State College was interested in some shots of their amazing store! They have walls and walls of any kind of book you can imagine, and this delicious café serving coffee, tea, and lots of delicious dishes using local food! I so wish I didn’t have celiac, or I would have been doing some WORK on that panini after I was done shooting it! The store itself is absolutely wonderful. With such an eclectic and laid back feel, I will definitely be heading over there in the near future to get some work done! If you are in the State College area, I highly recommend checking it out!
